Alcanada (Porto de Alcudia)

Village type: permanent structure
Year opened: 1951
Year closed: 1951
A little background: For the 1951 season, a new location had to be found for the resort village. The Spanish authorities, and particularly the clergy, had been outraged to see young people in swimsuits occupying their beach during the summer of 1950, engaging in games, swimming, and musical evenings. Not very Catholic indeed! Nevertheless, in 1951, the Club found, somewhat hastily, a spot at the end of Alcudia Bay, more precisely in Alcanada. The village wasn't a tent village, but a "stone village," as noted in Trident No. 3.
The GMs stayed in small hotels or fishermen's cottages and met for sports. They also went on excursions to explore the Balearic Islands and Spain.
For the first time, the transfer is also offered by air, although there is an additional charge for the trip
The village had no future. Even though the season went well, the experiment was not repeated the following season.
