Villa Pina
Location: Italy (Capri)
Village type: Tents then huts.
Year opened: 1953
Year closed: 1961
For the record: Opened in 1953, the Capri home, as indicated by the Trident, is a stopover and departure point for excursions made from Baratti .
From the summer of 1955, Villa Pina was offered as a combined package with the village on the island of Elba (Marina di Campo) . The minimum stay at the villa was one week.
Initially a village of tents pitched in the park of a pretty villa overlooking Capri, a few cottages were added there from 1956 onwards.
In early December 1959, the village was ravaged by a severe Mediterranean storm. (This storm, which also affected France, was the cause of the Malpasset Dam disaster (Fréjus) which claimed more than 300 lives.)
At the villa, the Club rebuilt the few cottages that had been damaged by the strong winds, improving them slightly in the process. The villa reopened for the summer of 1960.
1961 will be the last year that GMs will be able to take excursions from Capri
Village Chiefs
René HALLEMANS closed the village in 1961
