For a bit of background: You'll still find the name Val d'Isère in the Trident today. The village, or rather the current resort, opened for the winter of 1989/90, but did you know that Club Med has been established in this alpine resort since the winter of 1958/59?

In the winter of 1958/59, the Club increased its presence in the mountains with 2 new villages opening on the French mountain side.

Tignes les Boisses, on the one hand, and on the other hand Val d'Isère, to which I will dedicate this page.

The story of the first Club Med village in Val d'Isère is purely anecdotal. The village consisted of 5 chalets and only operated during the winter of 1958/1959.

It wasn't until 1962 that the Trident returned to the small Alpine resort. The Club established itself in the Grand Hôtel Parisien.
The hotel was located in the center of the resort (more precisely, near the church).

Roger CAILLET served as village chief for the first winter season. Pierre Hermet oversaw the closing in 1987.

The village closed in 1987, and in the winter of 1989/90, the club, with ambitious plans, inaugurated the new village which is still in operation today. Francis Di Landro was its first village chief.

The resort is now rated 4 tridents with a 5 trident area!
